Purpose:
Evaluate the bar as an acceptable remedial aid for a patient
with rigid pes planus transversus.
Material and Method:
48 patients with rigid pes planus transversus were prescribed
a metatarsal bar. Between one and two years later each got
a questionnaire about it's the effects.
Only 12 replied. 10 said they were satisfied. 2 said they were
not satisfied.
This is insufficient material from which to draw any conclusions.
It was not until later that I realised that failure only occurred
when the bar is worn in shoes with rubber soles.
